Early detection of skin cancer is still a major challenge in dermatology practice today. While surveillance programs are offered to high-risk patients, systematic total-body examination in the general population is not cost-effective. Lesion-directed screening may be a way to optimise skin cancer detection in the general population and use available time as efficient as possible in daily dermatology practice. Prof. Jan Gutermuth explores this topic with Prof. Lieve Brochez.
The research discussed in this webcast can be found in the JEADV here:"Lesion-directed screening to optimize skin cancer detection in dermatology practice: an observational study"

E33: Photoprotection: The Big Picture
Tuesday Aug 10, 2021
Tuesday Aug 10, 2021
We have a vast amount of research about the impact of UVB, UVA, visible light and infrared radiation on skin and subsequent dermatoses. We also have extensive information and research on how to mitigate risk from sun exposure. Yet, how do we communicate this to a public that doesn't often look much beyond the SPF number on a bottle of sunblock? Dr Elena Rossi explores this topic with Prof. Thierry Passeron to delve deeper into the proper habits that dermatologists, and really everyone, should know.

E27: Venous Leg Ulcers & Risk Factors
Tuesday Jun 08, 2021
Tuesday Jun 08, 2021
As dermatologists we are often confronted with patients with a non-healing leg ulcers. This may well be caused by venous insufficiency. In this podcast Audrey Meulendijks, author of "A systematic review on risk factors in developing a first-time Venous Leg Ulcer" is interviewed by EADV Education Committee member Bibi van Montfrans. Since risk factors for venous ulcers are also associated with lifestyle, we discuss the extent to which dermatologists should be engaged in lifestyle changes: a question that is relevant also for other dermatological diseases. In addition, the importance of providing more adequate information to our patients about the why and how of our treatments is underscored.
